Broadstairs Traffic Management

May 18, 2004 1:16 PM

At last month's public meeting on Town Centre Traffic Management, a number of suggestions were put forward:

  • speed reductions are desirable
  • a change in priority at Queen's Road might help. Priority could be given to vehicles following the existing bus route.
  • the pavement on the High St near Serene Place must be widened to improve safety for pedestrians
  • signage and advance warnings of narrow streets for lorries must be improved
  • pedestrianisation of Albion St was not popular because of the knock-on effects on surrounding roads

Your Liberal Democrat councillors want to know what you think about these suggestions.

The current system of traffic management in the town is at breaking point. The public meeting was just one opportunity for you to have your say. If you couldn't attend or you didn't speak, we want to hear your views.

Please write to us - whether you support these suggestions or not - to tell us what you think, or if you think the meeting missed some ideas.
