Labour's Child Trust Fund is a waste of money. It will cost £1.25billion over the course of a parliament. Liberal Democrats will abolish this scheme and invest the money in education, when it will be most effective. We want to reduce all class sizes for children between the ages of 5 and 7 to twenty.
"It is much more important to concentrate on improving the effectiveness of education," said Guy Voizey, prospective Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for South Thanet. "Labour's Child Trust Fund will provide young people with a small sum of money on their eighteenth birthday. It would be much better to equip all our young people with the skills which will benefit them in the future."
"It is disgraceful that, over the last three years, only 39% of all GCSE students achieve grades A*-C in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science", added Mr Voizey.
